Collection and Processing of Personal Data

The protection of your personal data is important to us. We process your data exclusively on the basis of legal provisions, in particular the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Austrian Data Protection Act (DSG), and the Austrian Telecommunications Act 2021 (TKG 2021).

This privacy policy informs you about which personal data we collect in connection with the operation of this website and for what purposes this data is processed.

Server Log Files

Each time this website is accessed, the web server automatically collects data in so-called server log files that your browser transmits. This includes the following data:

  • IP address of the requesting computer
  • Date and time of access
  • Name and URL of the retrieved file
  • Amount of data transferred
  • Notification of whether the retrieval was successful (HTTP status code)
  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system used
  • Referrer URL (the previously visited page)

This data is processed exclusively for the purpose of ensuring a smooth connection, comfortable use of the website, evaluation of system security and stability, and for administrative purposes.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest). The legitimate interest lies in ensuring the proper operation of the website and the detection and prevention of attacks.

Storage period: Server log files are automatically deleted after 14 days, unless further retention is required for evidentiary purposes.

Web Analytics

Matomo Analytics (Self-Hosted)

We use Matomo, an open-source web analytics platform, to statistically evaluate the use of this website. Matomo is operated on our own server in Germany (Hetzner Online GmbH, Nuremberg) — no data is shared with third parties.

The following data is collected:

  • Page visited and page title
  • Date and time of access
  • Anonymized IP address (2 bytes masked, e.g. 192.168.0.0)
  • Device type, screen resolution, operating system
  • Browser type and version
  • Language
  • Referrer URL (the previously visited page)
  • Time on page and visitor flows

No cookies are set (cookieless tracking). No user profiles are created and no data is shared with third parties. Access by known bots and crawlers (e.g. Googlebot, Bingbot) is automatically detected and not recorded.

Matomo is used exclusively for aggregated statistical analysis (e.g. page views per day, most visited pages). Identification of individual persons is not possible due to IP anonymization.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest). Our legitimate interest lies in the statistical evaluation of website usage to improve our services.

Right to object: Pursuant to Art. 21 GDPR, you have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to this processing. Please address your objection to office@keusch.wien.

Storage period: Analytics data is stored for a maximum of 26 months. Although it does not constitute personal data due to IP anonymization, we follow the principle of data minimization.

Email Contact

If you contact us by email, the data you provide (your email address, your name if applicable, and your message) will be processed and stored for the purpose of handling your inquiry. No disclosure to third parties takes place.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of pre-contractual measures) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in responding to inquiries).

Storage period: Your data is stored for the duration of processing your inquiry and beyond for the period required to fulfill statutory retention obligations (in particular under § 132 BAO: 7 years). After these periods expire, the data is deleted.

Contact Form

When you send us an inquiry via the contact form on this website, the following data is collected:

  • Name (required)
  • Email address (required)
  • Phone number (optional)
  • Subject (optional)
  • Message (required)

Processing takes place exclusively server-side via PHP. The data entered is sent by email to office@keusch.wien. There is no storage in a database and no disclosure to third parties. To protect against abusive inquiries, your IP address is temporarily stored in pseudonymized form (SHA-256 hash) on the server and automatically deleted after 24 hours. Additionally, the IP hash is included in the sent email to enable attribution in cases of abuse.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of pre-contractual measures at the request of the data subject). The storage of the IP hash is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in protection against abuse).

Storage period: Form data is not stored in a database but delivered exclusively by email. The email is retained for the duration of processing your inquiry and beyond for the period required to fulfill statutory retention obligations (in particular under § 132 BAO: 7 years). After these periods expire, the data is deleted.

The server location is in Austria. Data processing therefore takes place within the European Union. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR exists with asteria medien GmbH. A separate data processing agreement between asteria medien GmbH and Ledl.net GmbH & Co. KG ensures GDPR-compliant processing at infrastructure level.

SSL/TLS Encryption

This website uses SSL/TLS encryption for security reasons. An encrypted connection can be recognized by the lock symbol in your browser's address bar and the "https://" prefix. When SSL/TLS encryption is activated, the data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.

Recipients of Personal Data

Your personal data is disclosed exclusively to the following recipients or categories of recipients:

  • Hosting provider: asteria medien GmbH (processor pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR) and their sub-processor Ledl.net GmbH & Co. KG (technical operator), responsible for the technical operation of the website and the processing of server log files. Server location: Austria.
  • Infrastructure provider (web analytics): Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. The Matomo analytics platform is hosted on our own server at Hetzner. As an infrastructure provider, Hetzner does not have access to the analytics data. Server location: Nuremberg, Germany (EU).

No further disclosure of personal data to third parties takes place.

Data Transfer to Third Countries

No transfer of personal data to third countries (states outside the European Union or the European Economic Area) takes place. Server locations are in Austria (website hosting) and Germany (web analytics).

Cookies

This website uses exclusively a technically necessary session cookie, which is set when the contact form is accessed. This cookie serves to protect the form against so-called cross-site request forgery attacks (CSRF protection) and does not contain any personal data.

The cookie is automatically deleted when you close your browser (session cookie). No tracking via cookies takes place. Third-party cookies are not used.

Legal basis: This cookie is exempt from the consent requirement pursuant to § 165(3) TKG 2021, as it is strictly necessary for the provision of the service explicitly requested by you (contact form).

Fonts

This website uses the fonts "Fraunces", "DM Sans", and "JetBrains Mono". The fonts are hosted locally on our server. No connection to external servers (such as Google Fonts) is made. Therefore, no data is transmitted to third parties.

Automated Decision-Making

No automated decision-making including profiling within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR takes place.

Obligation to Provide Personal Data

The provision of personal data is neither legally nor contractually required. You are not obligated to provide personal data. However, if you do not submit data via the contact form or by email, we will be unable to process your inquiry.

Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR): You have the right to request confirmation as to whether personal data is being processed and, where applicable, to obtain information about such data.
  • Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR): You have the right to request the rectification of inaccurate personal data and the completion of incomplete data.
  • Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR): You have the right to request the erasure of your personal data, provided the legal requirements are met.
  • Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR): You have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data.
  • Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR): You have the right to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format, or to request its transfer to another controller.
  • Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR): You have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of personal data concerning you, where the processing is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Where processing is based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time pursuant to Art. 7(3) GDPR. The lawfulness of processing carried out prior to withdrawal remains unaffected.
